Cook County Clerk David Orr announced that he won’t seek re-election next year to the office he’s held for nearly three decades. Orr, 72, will retire after seven terms and a 40-year political career that included a dozen years as 49th Ward alderman, a brief stint as interim Chicago mayor following the death of Mayor Harold Washington in late 1987, and 28 years as county clerk.
