Tara Sadera has lived in Northfield for the last two years, and before that, lived in Winnetka for 14 years. She is an operations manager at Northwestern University’s School of Engineering, and her interests include swimming and reading.

Q: What do you like about the area?

A: It is an awesome place to raise your kids.

Q: What do you enjoy about your work?

A: It is fast-paced and interesting.

Q: What is something that people don’t know about the world of engineering that you do working on the inside?

A: Bioengineering is a really new field that is taking off, and I think it will be the means of curing cancer.

Q: How do you see it evolving over the next 10 years?

A: All schools are trying to get engineering departments. It is like the new computer science; it is really popular.

Q: What is a favorite hobby of yours?

A: Swimming. I like to swim at the YWCA in Evanston. It is great exercise for the whole body.

Q: Who is your favorite swimmer of all time?

A: (Olympic Gold Medalist) Tracy Caulkins.

Q: Who is one of your favorite authors?

A: John Irving. He is very quirky and interesting.

Q: What was a favorite subject to read about?

A: I named my daughter after Katharine Graham (the deceased chairwoman of the Washington Post Co.). I love her and her autobiography is fabulous.
