Q: My wife doesn’t want our new home to look like every other house on the block. Do you offer different siding, colors, brick choices to make sure our house will be different?

A: With a reputation for quality built over more than 55 years, Shodeen Homes understands that buyers not only want quality construction but also the opportunity to customize their homes to reflect their own needs and personalities. Shodeen has a Monotony policy which requires the same model home or same color home to be separated by 2 homes or to be across the street and down one home. This policy sets us apart from the production builders and provides an excellent variety in the streetscape.
At Sjodin Homes, our design/build custom home division, buyers have the ability to create homes that incorporate their choices down to the last detail. Virtually any feature and finish is either included or available to accomplish a one-of-a-kind residence.
In our other new home communities throughout the Fox River Valley, we have a two-tiered system for selecting both exterior and interior features. Our Gold Specifications include top-of-the-line standard features. These features can also act as a starting point for choosing additional exterior features such as brick or stone, Hardieboard siding and many other upgraded materials. Buyers can choose custom paint colors for both exteriors and interiors. Examples of interior choices include custom paints for each room in the home, gourmet kitchens with a variety of cabinets, countertops and appliances and deluxe baths. Optional finishes are virtually unlimited, dictated by the homebuyers’ priorities and budgets.
Q: Do you offer assistance for the selection of the home’s finishes? Can I choose something not in your selection center?

A: The 2,500-square-foot Shodeen Selection Center is located in a model home at Mill Creek, our award-winning Geneva community. An extensive variety of features and finishes, including flooring, tiles, lighting, and plumbing fixtures, are displayed. In addition, the staff can also identify and order other requested features. Our professional designer has more than 20 years of experience and provides expert assistance. Typically, buyers participate in three Design Center appointments of three hours duration each.
