Visitation for Frankfort District 157C school board member Chris McFadden will be Wednesday at Tezak Funeral Home in Joliet

The service will be from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 1211 Plainfield Road.

A celebration of McFadden’s life will be at 9:10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel, with a procession to Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood. Interment will follow at Saints Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Joliet, according to the Tezak Funeral Home’s website.

McFadden, 41, was found dead June 29 in his Frankfort home. The cause of death is pending toxicology reports, which take four to six weeks, according to the Will County Coroner’s office. Kevin Stevenson, chief deputy coroner said there were no visible signs of trauma to the body and foul play is not suspected.

McFadden, a lawyer, was elected to the Frankfort 157C board in 2011 and served as its president from 2013-2015. He won a seat on the Lincoln-Way High School District 210 board in April 2015, and cast a controversial vote to close Lincoln-Way North High School later that year.

He abruptly resigned from the Lincoln-Way board in January, 2016 after serving nine months, and was elected again to the Frankfort 157 C board last April.

He was an associate attorney at the law firm of Mahoney, Silverman and Cross in Joliet, and prior to that was an assistant U.S. attorney in San Diego and Chicago from 2005-2016, according to the funeral home.

McFadden, born in Joliet, attended Joliet West High School, graduated from Harvard and Northwestern University School.

He was a Big 10 baseball umpire and a college basketball official, according to his obituary.

McFadden is survived by his wife, Sarah, three young children, Brooke, Matthew and Erin; his parents Susan and Terry McFadden, and two brothers, James and Daniel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sarah McFadden for the children’s education.
