Tinley Park’s Village Board has decided full-time employees will no longer be required to live in the village. I’m not sure which is more concerning, whether the board feels Tinley Park doesn’t have the people within the village to fill necessary positions or that potential hires and at least some current employees don’t want to live in the village. Either scenario speaks volumes.

To the person complaining about President Donald Trump not choosing a charity yet — you must be listening to the wrong news channel. Chosen by suggestions from The White House press, Red Cross and The Salvation Army will each receive $300,000. Reach out America and Samaritan’s Purse will receive $100,000. Eight other charities, including two charities for animals will each receive $25,000. I listen to both liberal and conservative news so I have all the information/opinion and can make my own opinions. By far, I get a lot more relevant information from conservative news. Maybe more people should keep an open mind about conservative news. You might learn something.

Why do restaurants play such loud and boisterous music in their establishments? I go there to enjoy a good meal and relax and converse with family and friends. If I wanted to focus “music,” I’d buy a ticket to a concert.

I am amused by the pro soft drink tax ads being run to support this program. Like so many other residents, I strongly oppose its imposition for the following reasons: How will paying 67 cents on a 2-liter bottle make the children any healthier if they continue to drink soda? If we are taxed $1.34 per bottle, will the children be twice as healthy? Why is it imposed on diet soda? If sugar is bad, shouldn’t we concentrate on candy, ice cream and cookies too? … or eliminate all sugar products from being sold. But the tax has personally made me healthier. I now run over to Will County for my shopping.
