Lest it go unnoticed as we are reliving the mistakes of a misguided war in Vietnam, the U.S. Senate has passed a massive $700 billion National Defense Authorization Act, some $37 billion more than even our current “warmonger in chief” has requested. To put this amount is perspective, it is estimated to be one-third of all global military spending.

So much for learning the mistakes of Vietnam and Iraq and yes, even ancient Rome. So much for the poor, middle class and those in need of health care. Call this country what it is, what Bob Dylan said it is, “the masters of war.” Or to paraphrase the comedy genius George Carlin: We can’t educate our young people, we can’t get health care for our old people but we can bomb the heck out of your country.
