Every time I read bitter letters from William of Oak Lawn, I admire President Donald Trump even more. Thank goodness for informed voters.

A recent Speak Out asks, is it crazy that President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee donations are paying for his and his son’s legal fee? Whether that is truly happening, I don’t know. But what is absolutely crazy, no question about it, is that someone so unequivocally unfit to lead our country won the nomination and was elected. Of course in my opinion, the alternative wasn’t worthy of my vote either. Come 2020, I hope we have higher character people to choose from.

Even with no Chicago connection, it may be fun to watch the World Series and see if the Dodgers were really that good or the Cubs were as bad as they looked.

Illinois voters need to beware of Gov. Bruce Rauner not JB Pritzker. Progressive tax reform means those at the top pay the highest tax rate, and the middle class pays a lower tax rate, which makes sense. Unfortunately, what’s hurting Chicago, Cook County, and the State of Illinois is the mismanagement of money. In order to make up for their mismanagement, they keep raising taxes. They need to make tough decisions, reform pensions, and lay off unnecessary workers. But a fair, progressive tax code is what we need. The President Donald Trump led GOP tax plan reduces billions in taxes for the wealthy; a reduction they don’t need. This will add over $1 trillion to our debt. This idea of lowering taxes for the wealthy because it will make our economy boom is ridiculous. It never happens. When large companies get tax breaks, they don’t take that money and give it back to the employees. That money doesn’t trickle down to everyone else. The wealthy don’t give back that money to the middle class. It’s a myth, it’s a con, and it’s a joke. The economy will boom when the middle class has money to buy stuff; higher wages and less taxes will give them more money.
