Two cars collided head-on early Wednesday on the Northwest Side, sending six people to area hospitals.

After the crash, the driver of one of the vehicles fled, Chicago police said.

The crash happened around 4:15 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Armitage Avenue in the Hermosa neighborhood.

Five passengers rode in the car the driver fled from, police said. All five adults were transported to hospitals.

One man in the second car was transported to Stroger Hospital, according to police. He was the lone occupant of that car.

The conditions of those hospitalized were not immediately available.
