Will Rogers: “The short memories of American voters is what keeps our politicians in office.” Clearly, Rogers foresaw politics in the state of Illinois.

I was watching the leftist Sunday morning talking heads. Lo and behold, Democrat Donna Brazile was front and center promoting, most opportunistically, her book on DNC dysfunction. She pontificated profusely about her virtues but she didn’t explain her allegedly feeding agenda questions to Hilliary Clinton prior to the presidential debates. Needless to say, the leftist commentator failed to query her about that.

As I read Speak Out, I find more people are asking the same questions I ask myself. Where is respect and kindness today in so many of our younger people? These attributes begin in the home, not television, texting or the internet. Are we as parents afraid to correct our own kids so that they become considerate adults? I hope not because they are our future in all types of life, including government, and if their morals are put aside, we as parents and Americans are in deep trouble.

Social media has changed our country into a land of negativism. You no longer have to look a person in the eye to say, “I do not like you.” Now, just write on Facebook and there you have it — instant criticism on everything from the local store to the Chicago Cubs. It can be right or wrong or truth or just something you made up. Just say anything and sit back and laugh.
