For once, I have to agree with Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi. It’s not tax reform, it’s a tax scam. The Republican tax reform plan will kill the already depressed housing market for middle Americans, and corporate America will profit even more with no requirement of additional good paying, full-time jobs with insurance benefits. We should be even more concerned with what’s buried in the bill that’s not being reported.

Tinley Park

There are these JB Pritzker commercials saying, we’ve heard enough of President Donald Trump. Well, back at you, Pritzker. You are continually in commercials and we’re tired of listening to you.

Many thousands consider Washington D.C., to have too many departments, too many staff workers and ineffective. Our Congress should be included especially with all the current revelations of corruption, sexual harassment claims, collusion and stubborn party obstinance from both sides. Their main goal now seems to either gain or retain power to continue their cushy, political lifestyles. The word compromise is a lost avenue for the betterment of our country and our citizens. Lately, because of this failure, these politicians say, “we should leave this up to the individual state.” How often have we heard that? OK, how about doing exactly that for mostly everything? We’re not the United States anymore anyway. I hate to say it but we’ve become too polarized beyond help. Essentially, these same 500-plus obstinate, ineffective, self-serving politicians want 300 million of us to believe they know what’s best for us but absolutely won’t compromise to attain it.

I’m tired of the Republican right saying they are the Christian party. I was born and raised Catholic, and I’m still a practicing Catholic. I’m a Democrat who believes in helping the poor, providing health care to all, keeping social safety nets for the middle class (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security), a progressive tax code that makes the wealthy pay more while cutting taxes for the working class, and pushing for laws that protect consumers and our environment.
