Name: Mia Piljevic
Year in school: Senior
School: Niles West
Sport: Girls swimming
Best game: Piljevic placed 28th in the 100-yard backstroke during the girls swimming state meet preliminaries on Nov. 17 at New Trier in Winnetka. Piljevic, the Wolves’ lone representative at state, finished in 58.85 seconds. She qualified for state at the Glenbrook South Sectional, where she placed fourth in 57.85.

Sport: Boys cross country
Best game: In a bit of a surprise, Perreault placed fifth at the Class 3A boys cross country state meet on Nov. 4. He crossed the finish line in 14 minutes, 34 seconds at Peoria’s Detweiller Park.
Quote: “If you had asked every coach in 3A, whom they thought the top 10 runners would be, I’m pretty sure Conor would not have been in anyone’s top 10, let alone top 5,” Niles North coach Dave Shafron said. “What I saw (from Perreault) out there, was one of the most amazing running performances. It was absolutely unbelievable.”

Name: Annika Wagner
Year in school: Sophomore
School: Maine South
Sport: Girls swimming
Best game: Wagner earned a second-place finish at the girls swimming state meet by completing the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 1.30 seconds on Nov. 18. She added a fifth-place finish (50.60) in the 100 freestyle at New Trier’s Winnetka campus. She placed fourth in the 200 IM and the 500 free a year ago.
Quote: “She has been awesome for two years now,” Maine South coach Don Kura said. “She swims with the right kind of mentality every day in practice and she brings it into meets.”
