East Dundee’s interim public works director has been hired to fill the job on a permanent basis.
Phil Cotter, interim director since October, was approved by the Village Board Monday and will receive an annual salary of $110,000.
Last spring, the board opted not to renew the contract of Jim Kelly, who had been working part time as the East Dundee public works director and building inspector. Adam Peters, the village’s wastewater superintendent, took the role temporarily and then left in October for a new job in West Dundee.
Cotter succeeded Peters on an interim basis after trustees approved a two-month employee leasing agreement in October with the Northbrook-based staffing firm GovHR USA. His contract ran through Dec. 8 and could have been extended for two more months.
East Dundee Village Administrator Jennifer Johnsen said she is thrilled to have Cotter join the team.
“Phil’s extensive public works experience coupled with his master’s degree in public administration from (Northern Illinois University) makes him an exceptionally professional, yet hands-on public works director that the village will benefit from for many years to come,” she said.
