How is it that in a world where odds makers can predict an almost infinite number of possible football scores in any given week within a point or two, the medical profession cannot do a better job of choosing the most likely strains of the year’s flu virus? This year’s vaccine is considered only 10 percent effective. Maybe doctors should hire gamblers to do future picks. I’m beginning to think the only reason doctors tell us to get the vaccine is to cover the costs of making it.
Tinley Park
Southtown headline: Tinley OKs upscale rentals. However, to me upscale rentals is an oxymoron just like giant shrimp. One hundred and forty-four upscale apartments? To me, these upscale renters means they can’t/won’t/don’t want or can’t afford to buy. Transition is a “given,” which means empty apartments, which means not only a deterioration of their property but also the entire Tinley Park area. I sincerely hope I’m wrong but until proven otherwise, just call me Scrooge.
House Speaker Paul Ryan finally publicly confirmed their overall plan. Despite President Donald Trump’s campaign promise of not cutting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, it is now necessary because of the increased budget debt to cover the massive tax cuts for the rich. Do you really think the president will protect his voters? I hope all the Trump supporters and their families are very wealthy to survive the future without medical coverage as we grow older.
Mokena
With President Donald Trump’s history of his own personal financial irresponsibility, why would anyone think that for one moment, he would use other people’s money with moral financial dignity? He carelessly refuses to pay his own personal debt and has filed bankruptcy many times. Oh sure, he is looking out for our welfare.
