Regarding the recent op-ed by Chris Reed about a third political party option, why does the new party have to be “socially liberal and fiscally conservative”? Why not a “socially moderate and fiscally conservative” party? In my opinion this would better suit the middle class. Today, neither major party reflects and supports middle-class values. The Republican Party supports the wealthy and big business; the Democratic Party supports the elite and the poor. The middle-class “deplorables” are kind of left hanging.
