In a class of 5 and 6 year olds learning about Martin Luther King, the teacher asked them “What tools did he use to communicate?” A little boy said, “mostly love.” If we would spend more time listening to our children, we would be a kinder and gentler society.
Forget the Wall. America needs to build a Giant Mirror to reflect on what we have become.
After the tax cuts, some corporations announced a bonus rather than a pay increase. Then within 20 days, these corporations announced layoffs or store closings. Carrier will layoff 215, Sam’s Club/Walmart — 9,000, GE — 12,000, AT&T — 1,300, Macy’s — 10,000, Tenet Healthcare — 2,000, Allergan — 1,000, UAM — 600, Pfizer — 300, GoOro — 200, Wells Fargo — 800, and on and on. Such a great deal.
On past MLK holidays, presidents would normally use the day to volunteer somewhere. Our president spends this day, like most others, golfing.
Whenever Trump ends a statement with “That I can tell you,” you know he’s lying. As in “I am not a racist, that I can tell you,” or “there was no collusion, that I can tell you,” or “this tax plan will not benefit me, that I can tell you.”
It would be nice if just once, Trump used Twitter to inspire Americans to be better people, to unite and to care for one another. Instead, he chooses to create division between everyone, at every opportunity. Nothing presidential about that.
It’s weird that people in that room don’t remember hearing Trump using that word, when Trump himself was calling friends to brag about it afterwards. The president thought it would play well with his base, while the rest of the GOP was trying to play dumb to protect him from the eventual storm.
Don’t look now, but I think the “badmouth the president train” is running out of steam. The American people are way smarter than the media, just look at who buys the paper from whom. I must have forgot to cancel that thing.
Psychiatrists really should not be engaging in name calling about the president’s mental status without adequate evidence and evaluation, because it damages the credibility of the entire field. But to be fair, the president should also refrain from name-calling, it serves no purpose other than to invite paybacks.
This last year, our political world has unleashed an ugliness and cruelness that is beyond belief. People that claim to be so religious with Christian family values are resorting to all kinds of inflammatory gutter talk and false accusations. There is nothing funny or cute about this. Nobody wins or gets ahead for being obnoxious. Eventually, everything turns and evens out.
