We live in such a labor intense area that you would think that people would rather pick people over computers. It doesn’t look that way at the grocery store. It’s about me, me and I, and how fast it can get done. All that computer is doing is taking away three or four people’s jobs so we need to support our human beings and get in the human being line instead of self-checkout.

I love the commercials I see on television. A commercial said, “What is the No. 1 cause of death in the United States?” Somebody said, “Diabetes.” Why don’t you say, “Old age?” People die from that too — don’t they? . . .

I am writing in response to the reader who wrote that Democrats are pushing the legalization of marijuana for tax purposes. So, what is the alternative? Keep it illegal and let drug cartels make millions. I would rather see millions go to funding schools, fixing roads, keeping our roads plowed, etc. Besides alcohol is a more dangerous drug, which is legal. Let’s take off our partisan hats and use some common sense.

Am I the only one who missed the tidbit that when the state finally passed a budget last year, they decided to balance it, in part, by reducing the mandated dollars to be paid into the already-in-the-hole-by-billions pension funds? Isn’t that what got us into this insurmountable debt and financial ruin in the first place?
