I’ve been watching the news and the problems that we had with the roads all iced up. Everybody said, “Well, it’s the weather,” or “It’s this” or “It’s that.” How about all the townships get out there in their little snowplows and start salting? They all knew that this weather was coming and that it would possibly freeze so we can’t just blame the weather. How about we blame the townships . . .?
For several years, Illinois was run without a budget. Millions of dollars in bills were left unpaid. Our so-called leaders in Springfield could not come to terms. Every leader from Gov. Bruce Rauner on down put us in this mess. Now, with the balanced budget comes more headaches. Billions of dollars are owed out, so who are the winners? It’s not us the taxpayers. It’s not the governor and the elected officials. But, for sure, I can say, once again, that the taxpayers here in Illinois are left with more debt. Here in Illinois all we have is one crisis or corruption after another. It needs to stop.

To the person who commented on teachers: The thing is when you mention eight hours pay for an eight hour day, have you ever stopped to think about how much time teachers put in outside of the ‘official’ school day? I usually arrive at school an hour before classes start and typically am at school at least an hour after the school day ends. When I leave, there are always some teachers who are still there. When I get home, on some nights, I will spend anywhere from one to three hours working on school work. On most days, I and many other teachers have put in more than eight hours and there is no overtime pay for those hours over eight hours.
