We live in a democracy that gives us a right and obligation to protect the freedoms that we have. Free speech and press are vital to call out and address lies, wrongs and injustices.

I get a kick out of how all politicians think they can apologize for anything just by saying, “I didn’t mean to say/do it.” They vote “yes” for a bill one year, then when either the law’s a dud and unpopular with the people…it’s something like, ” I didn’t really mean it when I voted yes. . .” A leopard doesn’t change its spots.

I don’t fly on airplanes. But, if I did, I would be absolutely furious if I boarded a plane and discovered that the passenger next to me was holding a pig, chicken, baby goat, or some other animal. This “comfort pet” thing has gotten completely ridiculous, and it is an excellent example of how people are pushing and pushing for more personal accommodations, no matter how absurd, unsafe, or disruptive they may be. Nobody should pay hundreds of dollars for a plane ticket and then discover, upon boarding the plane, that they’ll have to sit next to livestock for 10 hours.

Mt. Carmel’s Frank Lentl’s story just won’t go away. Evidently, Lentl had no intentions of resigning or retiring but “administration” decided that “they wanted to change direction” even with a proven, champion football program led by Lentl. The administration should’ve been reminded, “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it.”
