Cheers to the Zion police
I wish these people would quit picking on the Zion police. I think we have a good police department. Try walking in their shoes once.
Self-defense
Finally Gov. Rauner, we have a politician who’s truthful. He vetoed legislation that would have required gun retailers to be licensed by the state of Illinois, calling it an unnecessary, burdensome regulation, which is exactly what it is. I’m pro-gun for home defense and keeping one around the house, but I’m not pro let everybody have a gun. But Gov. Rauner makes sense. Any other politician would say, “Oh yeah, that sounds good to me. Let’s regulate, regulate, regulate.” All that does is put more money in the state’s pocket. They’re already regulated by the federal government, I don’t see any need for it to be regulated at the state level. Then next, it’ll be at the county level, then the city level. So a $400 gun will cost $1,200 in fees by the time it’s done, which is ridiculous. Then that deprives the normal, everyday legal gun owner to not be able to defend himself and to have a weapon in his home.
Stay in school and be nice
Now that kids are staging walkouts because of the gun laws, does that mean they’ll have to make up that time at the end of the year for the hours or the days they’ve missed because of what they’re doing? Instead of having the walkouts, why don’t they stop bullying other kids? Why don’t they start to be friendlier and nicer to the kids who are quiet and shy? Why don’t they help each other out?
Car crusher
I read Dan Moran’s column about having his guns destroyed so they can’t possibly hurt or kill any people in the future. I wonder if he’s going to get his car put in a crusher too, since cars kill more people than anything else — well, except maybe obesity. And then maybe, when we’re finished with that, we can take on a few swimming pools because swimming pools kill more kids than guns. So have a good day, Dan, and we’ll see if you print this one.
Beg to differ
Mayor Sam Cunningham: Since you are hiring employees, why can’t you hire the beggars who are on every corner of the city and make the city more presentable?
Not the first school shooting
In regards to the children who took 17 minutes for the Florida high school shooting: Nowhere in their protests do they acknowledge any other shootings in schools like Columbine and Sandy Hook, as well as many others. It’s too bad they are only one-sided for their own. This has gone on for a long time, and it’s too bad that you only hear about their school and what they want.
No more free rides
Did you ever think if we got rid of all these freeloaders on welfare, this state might get out of debt?
