Naperville Police Department Cmdr. Lou Cammiso is retiring this week and will take a job with Indian Prairie School District 204 investigating residencies of students who attend district schools, Naperville officials said Tuesday.
Cammiso took the helm of the department’s Office of Professional Standards and began serving as Naperville Police Department’s public information officer in 2017.
Cammiso’s last day with the department is Friday, when he will be honored during an afternoon retirement ceremony alongside Cmdr. John McAnally, who is also retiring, Naperville Police Chief Robert Marshall said.
After he leaves his police post, Cammiso is to work in residency administration for District 204, investigating whether students attending district schools actually live in the district, Marshall said.
The retirement of Cammiso and McAnally along with the retirement of Cmdr. Tom Kammerer and the promotion of former Cmdr. Kathy Anderson to deputy chief leaves four of eight total commander positions open, Marshall said. Kammerer was to begin serving as police chief Monday in Princeton, Ill.
The department is looking internally to fill the positions, Marshall said.
