Incoming freshman Tykei Greene has left the Loyola basketball program, the university confirmed.

Greene, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard who averaged 15 points per game at Long Island Lutheran High School, announced on Twitter late last week that he instead will attend Manhattan College so he can be closer to his family in New York.

Greene, who had signed his national letter of intent with Loyola in May, also thanked Porter Moser and his coaching staff, tweeting: “The Loyola Basketball program is incredible and I know they will continue to do great things in the future.”

Loyola returns three starters — point guard Clayton Custer, shooting guard Marques Townes and center Cameron Krutwig — from the 2017-18 Final Four team and has two scholarships available.
