Red Line trains resumed normal service Tuesday afternoon after being rerouted from the State Street subway for about half an hour because of a person on the tracks, officials said.

Trains were rerouted to the CTA’s elevated structure between Fullerton Avenue and Cermak Road, with shuttles between Fullerton and Lake Street, after the CTA was alerted just after 3:05 p.m. p.m., that someone was on the tracks, with normal service resuming about 3:40 p.m., according to CTA spokesman Jon Kaplan.

Police were called after the person was found to be on the subway tracks between Grand and Chicago avenues, and power was cut to the subway, Kaplan said. Power was restored after police gave the all-clear, he said.

Police did not release information.
