I love free stuff but it comes with a price. At the grocery store you see the sign that says, buy one and receive one free but if you know your prices, then nine out of 10 times the regular prices have been increased so you end up saving little to nothing. Some of our candidates are running on getting free this and free that but those freebies will never happen. This is a capitalistic country. Anyone can become a millionaire. To have free medicine and free education sounds good but what’s the real cost of these freebies? My suggestion to candidates is to find ways to reduce costs. Then you would have a better chance of winning the election.

In a recent Speak Out, two commenters mentioned that former President Barack Obama raised the deficit. One commenter from Chicago also mentioned that former President Jimmy Carter and former President Bill Clinton cut the deficit. Actually Obama cut the deficit. When he took office, the Democrats put the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq on the books, which was huge. Those wars were off the books under President George W. Bush. Obama cut the deficit massively by the end of his eight-year term. There’s no way to say that he raised the deficit. He cut the deficit and cut it massively.

I see where Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s next step to close Chicago’s huge budget hole is to convince downstate legislators to share in what she calls, shared problems. . . . Face it, the biggest problem is our unfunded pension obligations. And they can be tracked back only to Chicago’s alleged misuse and corruption.
