Cafe de Champion, owned by boxer Jack Johnson. The club opened in 1912 at 41 West 31st Street in Bronzeville. It was a “black and tan” club, meaning it was open to both whites and blacks. The lavishly decorated club only last a couple months before it was shut down by police.
