Antioch police say they are investigating two separate thefts that took place this month at a local car dealership.

Authorities said they have responded twice to Kunes Country Ford on Illinois Route 173 over a seven-day period as thieves targeted the business.

Police said a Ford F-350 pickup truck was stolen around 7 a.m. on Nov. 6. Two cars carrying multiple people entered the dealership and stole the truck. They also broke out the window on a second truck in an attempt to steal it, police said.

The dealership was hit again around 2 a.m. Thursday when two vehicles carrying multiple people again arrived at the dealership. Police said they damaged a vehicle by ramming it in an attempt to gain access to more expensive vehicles parked behind it.

Someone from a neighboring business alerted police to the crime in progress, and the thieves entered an adjoining dealership, police said. As the first officer arrived, the vehicles fled, nearly striking the police car. For safety reasons, the police decided to not give chase.

An unknown number of cars were stolen in the second theft, and the dealership is checking its inventory, police said.

Police have released photos captured on surveillance cameras and they are asking for the public’s help in identifying the thieves. Anyone with information is asked to call the Antioch Police Investigations Division at 847-395-8585.
