The start of every journey is in a single step. While it might be the hardest, your first step initiates the implementation of your ideas. It also helps you know where you are, where you want to be, and what actions you need to take to achieve your goal. When Rex Afrasiabi began his journey almost a decade ago, he had a purpose to fulfill, one that he says kept him going even when challenges came knocking.
Born in a war-torn country, Afrasiabi was exposed to the harsh realities of life early on. He notes that growing up in an environment where he was in constant fear due to regular bombing, he wanted a better future for himself and his family. This inspired him to look into law as a career and understand it in greater detail.
As he grew older, he and his family relocated to Australia, giving the young dreamer a better shot at his future. However, the journey was not smooth, considering this was an English-speaking country. Afrasiabi had to start over and enroll in English classes. After his parents divorced, Afrasiabi had to move in with his father, who spent most of the time overseas. This forced Afrasiabi to practically raise himself.
While it was challenging, he didn’t give up. He worked harder, remained focused on his vision and completed his education.
Looking back, he says that his journey has been one of his biggest inspirations. He notes that knowing he has overcome multiple obstacles motivates him to keep moving and step out of his comfort zone.
Before starting M A Legal, Afrasiabi worked for several law firms but then decided to shift to a career in fashion, where he was a general manager for an international company. According to Afrasiabi, his move from law to the fashion industry helped him find his purpose.
Although his new job was exciting and rewarding, it unfortunately didn’t align with Afrasiabi’s purpose, cause and beliefs that drove him each day. He felt he was lacking in so many things, and it was then he decided to go back to practicing law, establishing M A Legal. In his words, “I wanted a career where I could help others.”
Together with his team, Afrasiabi provides services tailored to individual needs, helping his clients achieve the most legally sound and commercially viable outcome. Each team member’s skills, unique approach and professionalism set them apart in the industry.
Afrasiabi says that with each client, their goal is to provide valuable advice in business and personal life to ensure that they succeed in their paths. By doing so, the team is also helping clients move forward with their out-of-the-box thinking, be it in the form of creative solutions, strategic business structuring, dispute resolution or even asset protection.
By following his passion, Afrasiabi found his purpose. As he continues to grow, he says his focus is to help more people and scale his law firm.
