A 17-year-old boy from Indiana was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after a fight broke out Sunday at the Urban Air Adventure Park in Mokena.

Police Chief Brian Benton said the fight started about 4 p.m. Sunday with two juveniles and eventually involved their family members and other park guests. The fight escalated to include about 20 people, a mix of both children and adults, and it primarily involved pushing and shoving, Benton said.

No serious injuries were reported, he said.

A security guard was hit during the fight, but it is not clear if the security guard was punched intentionally or accidentally because he was trying to break up the fight, Benton said. The security guard was not injured, but the teen who hit him was charged with disorderly conduct.

About 100 people were at the trampoline park, 19800 S. La Grange Road, at the time of the fight, Benton said.

Village administrator John Tomasoski said while Urban Air has had some unfortunate incidents, it has overall been a good business for the community.

The trampoline park brings people to Mokena, who in turn spend money at other businesses in town, he said. Tomasoski said he has also heard compliments from residents about Urban Air offering fun birthday parties for children.

But whenever a business does experience such problems, village officials will reach out to its owners and managers to talk about their policies and offer suggestions. He said the village wants to create a good partnership with the business community.

“Generally Urban Air is doing fine, but whenever you have any disturbance, it’s not good,” Tomasoski said. “You don’t want to see that in the community.”

Benton said the investigation is ongoing and more charges could be filed after police review footage of the incident.

A manager at Urban Air declined to comment.
