Good afternoon, Chicago.

Two people have finally claimed a $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot after a single ticket to the July 29 drawing was sold in Des Plaines. The Illinois Lottery said the prize for the drawing, which was the nation’s third-largest lottery prize, was claimed by two individuals who had agreed to split the prize if they won.

And city building inspectors have examined and helped stabilize a damaged portion of an Austin apartment building that suddenly exploded on Tuesday, partially collapsing the roof and critically injuring three of the eight people sent to area hospitals.

‘This is our house’: Reclamation Center in Pilsen connects women leaving prison to services, emotional support

On a recent day, parole and probation agents from across the country — including the head of the women’s parole unit in the Illinois Department of Corrections — were at the Women’s Justice Institute’s newly opened Reclamation Center. Read more here.

Chicago White Sox fall 5 games back in the AL Central after a ‘frustrating’ 10-7 loss to Cleveland Guardians in 11 innings
