
A three-vehicle crash in Homer Glen at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday left an 18-year-old Lockport woman dead and another in critical condition, according to the Will County sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office detailed a chaotic scene in which two vehicles hit each other head-on in the 7000 block of South Cedar Road, and then a third vehicle crashed into them.
One of the drivers of the first crash was 18-year-old Abigail F. Thomas, of Lockport, was pronounced dead at the scene, according too the Will County coroner’s office. The other driver, a 42-year-old Lockport resident, was taken to Silver Cross Hospital where she remained in critical condition Thursday, the sheriff’s office stated.
“Lockport Township High School District 205 is saddened by the death of Abigail Thomas,” a statement from the district said. “We extend our condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time.”
Thomas went to Lockport Township High School until 2021 before transferring to a private school, the district said.
In the third car, the driver did not see the two vehicles that had crashed and hit the rear of one of the crashed cars, then slid into a ditch, sheriff’s police said. The driver and front seat passenger were treated for minor injuries at Silver Cross.
