Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant, a 2022 Merrillville graduate, was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night.

The 6-foot-3, 339-pound Grant, who was the 13th overall pick, had 36 tackles with 6.5 sacks in 41 games during his three-year career at Michigan, where he won the 2023 national championship.

Grant was the Post-Tribune’s defensive player of the year in 2021.
