Park Forest police said they are investigating the shooting death of a 26-year-old Dolton man.

Police said they were called at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday to the 0-100 block of Krotiak Street to assist the Park Forest Fire Department with an unresponsive male.

The man, identified by police as 26-year-old Kevin M. Miller Jr. from Dolton, was found deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office reported Miller had an address in the 800 block of Burnham Drive in University Park.

He was pronounced dead at 11:48 a.m. at the Krotiak address, having suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the office, which ruled the death a homicide.

Park Forest investigators, along with members of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, responded to the scene, assisted by the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, Park Forest police said in a news release Friday.

The shooting remains under investigation and police said that their investigation indicates it was an isolated shooting.
