A car crash in the south suburbs resulted in the closure of all southbound lanes of I-57 at I-80, Illinois State Police said.
At approximately 4:07 a.m., a multivehicle crash occurred on southbound I-57 near Vollmer Road.
Following the crash, police said, an occupant of one of the cars exited their vehicle and was struck by another passing car.
One person died, and another was brought to a hospital in the area. An investigation is ongoing.
