A summer street festival promising live entertainment, food, art and more is coming to downtown Aurora on Friday.

The Stolp Island Block Party will be the highlight of Aurora’s First Fridays event with over 30 downtown businesses expected to participate, according to a news release from the Aurora Area Economic Alliance.

The event, which will be free and open to all ages, is set to take over Stolp Avenue between Galena Boulevard and Downer Place from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 1.

For entertainment, the Stolp Island Block Party will have a live band, Saint Astro, in addition to the If These Walls Could Talk Artist Showcase, a magician, Boonz Balloons, face painting and a craft station for children, organizers said.

The news release highlighted various food options available, including Nick’s Pizza Truck, Grumpy Gaucho, My Funnel Truck and Lemonade, Tavern on Broadway, Altiro Latin Fusion, Craft Urban, Charlie’s Creamery and Pineapple Ladies, which will offer slushies and mocktails.

The event will also feature various vendors, such as Do or Dye Designs that will offer hair accessories and Whitney’s Love Nail & Beauty Bar offering face glitter, plus a Teen Art Market by Yellow Bird Books, a T-shirt tie-dyeing and selfie station by Rebuilding Together Aurora as well as pop-ups by the Paramount School of the Arts, the Aurora Regional Fire Museum, The Nolan Gallery and more.

Beyond just the block party, the typical First Fridays festivities will also be going on, with many nearby galleries, boutiques and cafes staying open late, according to the Alliance news release.
