A power outage Tuesday at the Cook County courthouse in Markham has causes cases scheduled for morning hearings to be pushed back, according to Cook County Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans.

The courthouse is at 16501 Kedzie Ave., and Evans’ office said power was restored later on Tuesday.

Misdemeanor and traffic cases are continued until Sept. 19 and felony cases to Aug. 26, according to a news release.

Domestic Violence cases are continued to Sept. 2, 2025 and order of protection return cases are continued to 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 28, according to the chief judge.

Civil continuances will be given by court order, per the judge in the case, according to Evans’ office

The power outage was due to a fault in a power line, and ComEd crews addressed the problem and the courthouse later reopened.
