A 32-year-old man was fatally wounded overnight on the Far North Side in the Rogers Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

About 2 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 1600 block of West Estes Ave and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

The victim was outside when he was approached by a gunman who opened fire in his direction. He was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston with multiple wounds to the upper body and listed in critical condition but was pronounced dead later, police said.

No one was in custody for the fatal shooting and detectives were investigating.
