Detectives were questioning one person after a 2-year-old boy was fatally wounded Monday afternoon in an apparent accidental shooting in Chatham, according to police information.
The child accidentally shot himself in the face around 1 p.m. on the 300 block of East 87th Street, police said. He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the child as Kh’aden Johnson.
Police found a gun at the scene of the shooting, according to a message distributed from CPD’s internal information clearinghouse. Calumet Area detectives were investigating the shooting.
