Two men died Thursday in separate Lake County car crashes, authorities said.
A Chicago man was killed early Thursday in a single-car crash along Interstate 94 near Deerfield, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said.
The coroner identified him as Angelo Gomez-Suarez, 18.
Authorities said he was killed at about 4:42 a.m. Thursday between Deerfield and Northbrook. Police said the vehicle Gomez-Suarez was driving, a gray Toyota, left the interstate and rolled over. First responders found Gomez-Suarez, who was not breathing.
An autopsy showed death from blunt force trauma, the coroner’s office said. The investigation into the crash is continuing, authorities said.
In the second incident, the coroner’s office said Carlos Acosta, a 63-year-old Waukegan resident, may have suffered a life-threatening cardiac event before a fatal crash in Waukegan.
Police said that Acosta was involved in a multi-vehicle crash at around 6:48 a.m. near the intersection of 10th Street and Sheridan Road in Waukegan. His car continued on for about a half-mile before running into a fire hydrant in the 700 block of South Genesee Street.
He was pronounced dead at a local hospital following the crash. An autopsy showed the cause of death as blunt force injuries and also showed evidence of the cardiac issue, the coroner’s office said.
