A man who stole an ambulance in Rockford and drove it roughly 80 miles to Chicago was caught in the Humboldt Park neighborhood Wednesday night, officials said.
Chicago police assisted the Rockford police and Cook County sheriffs catching a man who fled Rockford police in a private stolen ambulance, Chicago police said.
About 7:40 p.m., Cook County sheriffs saw the stolen ambulance in the 600 block of North Homan Avenue and conducted a traffic stop, police said. Responding Chicago officers arrested the man, police said.
Charges are pending.
