A 37-year-old man was discovered unresponsive and fatally stabbed overnight aboard a CTA train in the Loop neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a call at the Clark and Lake Blue Line station in the 100 block of West Lake Street, where a man was discovered unresponsive.

Passengers getting off a train alerted canine security on the train platform to the victim, who appeared to have suffered stab wounds to the chest and abdomen, police said.

The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday. The man’s identity wasn’t released publicly.

The circumstances leading up to the deadly stabbing were under investigation. No one was in custody.
