A car crashed into Beyond Borders Cafe on Sterling Avenue in downtown Flossmoor early Monday morning, the village said in a statement.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle by first responders and taken to the hospital in critical condition, the statement said.
“Due to an unexpected incident, Beyond Borders Cafe will be closed until further notice,” the cafe posted on its social media.
Beyond Borders Cafe is a recent addition to Flossmoor’s downtown, opening in August. In addition to typical cafe fare, the cafe also hosts events, including live music, and has a wine menu.
Cleanup efforts and an investigation into the accident are ongoing, the village’s statement said.
