Waukegan police officers shot and killed a man during an incident Saturday, the department said in a news release.
According to the release, three officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Leith Street at about 2:54 p.m. for a report of subject who had attempted to commit suicide.
The shooting victim is a 58-year-old Waukegan man, police said. The release did not provide details of what prompted the shooting.
First responders provided aid to the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Illinois State Police were called in to investigate.
