Kisha McCaskill was appointed to replace Monica Gordon, who became Cook County clerk at the end of 2024. She faces off against Kiana Belcher, a Dolton village trustee. Both are veterans of the rough-and-tumble politics of Chicago’s South Side and south suburbs, which make up the heart of the district. It’s a close call, but McCaskill has good qualifications and support from key elected officials. She promises to collaborate with government, corporate and religious leaders, a cooperative approach that should serve the district well.

McCaskill is endorsed.
