A house fire in Northlake early Monday morning left two women dead, Northlake police said.

Police said they responded to a fire at 74 West Drive at around 1:25 a.m. The home was fully engulfed in flames, according to officers.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and removed two women from the house. Susan Palos, 65, who lives in the home, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, and Palos’ sister-in-law Maricarmen Wilkerson, a 63-year-old from Chicago, was taken to Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, according to police. Both were pronounced dead at the hospital.

No one else was inside the house at the time of the fire, police said, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
