A Humboldt Park man has been extradited to Chicago on a warrant that ties him to the shooting deaths of a father and son at their Little Village jewelry store last November, according to Chicago police.

Chicago officers, along with the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, arrested Muhammad Thomas, 35, on Tuesday in St. Louis, police said in a news release.

Thomas was identified as the gunman who robbed a business in the 3800 block of West 26th Street on Nov. 8 before killing two men who worked there.

Thomas faces two counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery tied to the deaths of Faustino Alamo, 63, and Luis Angel Alamo, 25.

On the day of the shooting, police said the gunman walked into the jewelry store and pulled out a gun before making off with an unknown amount of stolen goods. Two store employees chased the suspect outside onto 26th Street when the gunman opened fire, police said.

The older man was also armed with a Glock handgun, and he fired at least one round before the gun jammed, according to police.

Thomas also faces several other felony charges tied to a July 2023 shooting in the 1700 block of West Maypole Avenue and a July 2024 armed robbery in the 2300 block of West Cermak Road, police said.

He is expected to appear before a Cook County judge for a detention hearing on Friday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.

Cook County Crime Stoppers had offered a $10,000 reward for information on the shooting, but it was unclear whether anyone would claim the prize.
