A Lake Forest resident had to be evacuated from his home Friday morning following a fire, city officials said.

Firefighters were called to a two-story house near the intersection of Middlefork and Jensen drives at about 9:35 a.m. and saw flames coming from the roof of the single-family home, according to a city statement.

Crews removed an elderly man from the house, Deputy Fire Chief Christopher Roberts said. He was not taken to a hospital.

The fire was extinguished shortly after crews arrived as firefighters worked from both inside and outside the house, the city said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the statement. Roberts said a damage estimate was not immediately available.

Lake Forest firefighters were assisted by crews from several neighboring departments.
