
APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR PARK PAVILION RENTALS
Pavilion rental applications are being accepted from residents who want to secure Naperville Park District pavilions for large events like family picnics and other gatherings betweem June 1 and Aug. 31.
Nonresidents can submit applications beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 19, a park district news release said.
Pavilion rental requests must be made at least 21 days prior to use and renters must be at least 21 years of age. Additional details, including information on pricing and application forms, are available at www.napervilleparks.org/pavilionrentals.
Pavilions and picnic areas are available at the following parks:
- DuPage River Park Pavilion, 808 Royce Road;
- Frontier Sports Complex – East Pavilion, 3415 Book Road;
- Knoch Knolls Frank J. Rus Pavilion, 320 Knoch Knolls Road
- Knoch Knolls Park Lower Grove, 320 Knoch Knolls Road;
- Riverwalk Grand Pavilion, 912 Honorary Sindt Memorial Court;
- Seager Park Pavilion, 1163 Plank Road;
- Wolf’s Crossing Community Park Pavilion, 3253 Wolf’s Crossing Road.
SHREDDING EVENT SET FOR APRIL 11 AT CENTENNIAL BEACH
A shredding event sponsored by the Naperville Park District and the Naperville Police Department will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, in the parking lot at Centennial Beach, 500 Jackson Ave.
Participants will be limited to two large cardboard banker boxes or paper boxes not to exceed 10 pounds each. No metal or plastic binder rings or clips or shredded paper is allowed, organizers said.
Volunteers will be on hand to help people unload boxes. There is no need to get out of the vehicle at the event, organizers said.
Documents will be accepted until 11 a.m. or until the trucks are full.

HEATHER HUGHES JOINS CHILDREN’S MUSEUM BOARD
Heather Hughes, senior vice president of strategic alignment at the YMCA of the USA, has joined the board of directors of the DuPage Children’s Museum in Naperville, officials announced.
Hughes has more than 25 years of experience, including leadership roles, with the YMCA and has focused on supporting health and youth innovations, a museum news release said.
Earlier in her career, Hughes worked at the Heritage YMCA in Naperville, where she led before- and afterschool programs across two school districts, the release said. She has an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, the release said.
Her experience in youth-serving organizations and operational leadership will help support the museum’s efforts to expand access to hands-on science, art and engineering learning experiences for children and families, the release said.
