With the holiday fast approaching, Easter events in the Elgin begin on March 21 when the Fox River Trolley Museum’s Bunny Burrow Express hits the tracks for a trio of Saturdays leading up to the holiday.

Trolley rides will be offered at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on March 21, March 28 and April 4, with boarding to take place at the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve, 35W003 Route 31, South Elgin. Children receive baskets to collect eggs when they arrive at the Easter Bunny’s burrow.

Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at foxtrolley.org/visit/special-events/bunny-burrow-express.

Friday, March 27

  • A flashlight egg hunt for children ages 9 to 14 will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m at Randall Oaks Park, 1180 N. Randall Road, West Dundee. Cost is $10 per child for Dundee Township residents and $15 for nonresidents. Go to www.dtpd.org/egg-hunts to register.

Saturday, March 28

  • South Elgin Parks and Recreation Department will hold a free “Eggscellent Expedition” scavenger hunt from Saturday, March 28, to Friday, April 3. Clues and details will be available starting March 28 at southelgin.com/eggscellentexpedition.

  • Dundee Township Park District egg hunt will be held in half-hour time blocks for children ages 2 to 8 from 9 a.m. to noon on the grounds of the Randall Oaks Recreation Center, 500 N. Randall Road, West Dundee. Cost per child is $5 for Dundee Township residents and $9 for nonresidents. To register, go to www.dtpd.org/egg-hunts.

  • Hanover Township will host “Hoppin’ for Hanover” from 10 a.m. to noon at the Izaak Walton Youth Center, 899 Jay St., Elgin. Free egg hunts by age groups will be available for children ages 2 to 10 starting at 10:30 a.m. Donations of canned goods for the township’s food pantry are requested. Sunday, March 29

  • The Easter Bunny will be on had from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at Randall Oaks Zoo, 1180 N. Randall Road, West Dundee. Regular admission rates apply. For information, go to www.dtpd.org/calendar/events/bunny-day.
  • Floating egg hunts conducted in time blocks for children ages 1 to 12 will be held from 2 to 3:15 p.m. at the Rakow Center’s indoor pool, 665 Barrington Ave, Carpentersville. Bags will be provided for collected eggs. Children can use the pool until 5 p.m. after the hunts are finished. Cost per child is $5 for Dundee Township residents and $9 for nonresidents. Friday, April 3

  • The Easter Bunny will be on hand from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for people who want to take photos of him with their dogs at the South Elgin Municipal Annex, 1 W. State St.. The event is free but registration required to receive an assigned time. To register, go to southelgin.com/residents/special_events/_pooched__egg_hunt.php.

Saturday, April 4

  • Elgin’s free Easter egg hunt and color explosion will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave. The egg hunt is at participation capacity. For more information, call 224-493-2095 or email danny.flores@elginil.gov.
  • Sleepy Hollow Service Club’s free egg hunt and visit from the Easter Bunny will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at Sabatino Park, 145 Thorobred Lane, Sleepy Hollow. The hunt is divided into age and special needs groups. The child who finds a golden ticket inside one of the eggs will receive a grand prize.
