A 74-year-old Yorkville woman has been charged after turning herself in on Friday in connection with a car crash in October that left a pedestrian dead, according to the Yorkville Police Department.

An investigation into the incident began on Oct. 4, 2025, when police were dispatched to a traffic crash in the area of Route 71 and Walsh Drive in Yorkville at around 4:28 p.m., a news release from the police department said.

The initial investigation indicated that a vehicle being driven by Edith Graff, 74, of Yorkville, allegedly crossed the white fog line and struck a pedestrian walking in the area, police said in the news release. The pedestrian was then taken to an area hospital, and later pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the crash, according to police.

Further investigation by the police department’s Investigations Unit indicated that Graff had allegedly been using a cellular phone at the time of the crash, the department said, and toxicology results indicated that alcohol was present in her system, according to the release. Both factors are believed to have contributed to the crash, police said.

Graff ultimately turned herself in at the Kendall County Jail, the news release said. She has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death, along with aggravated reckless driving and reckless conduct, officials said.
