A 71-year-old Frankfort man was charged Tuesday with threatening Gov. JB Pritzker after Illinois State Police said they were notified of numerous voicemail threats to the governor’s office March 3.
Timothy Shemitis was charged with the felony of threatening a public official and a misdemeanor of harassment by phone.
State police took Shemitis into custody and he remained Thursday in the Will County jail. He appeared in court Wednesday and a hearing is scheduled for Friday, according to online court records.
