An 84-year-old woman was fatally injured overnight in a fire at a residence in the Logan Square neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Chicago police and firefighters responded shortly before 4:45 a.m. to a fire in the two-story home in the 2500 block of North Bernard Street. Once firefighters extinguished the blaze, an unresponsive 84-year-old woman was discovered inside, police said.
The victim, Judith M. Harris, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.
No other injuries were reported.
